Apricena stone, Musicco bronzetto.
Chemically, the stone is formed to over 96% of calcium carbonate with traces of oxides of iron, manganese, aluminum and others. It is characterized by a specific weight of 2.71 g/cm3. This material is very appreciated, because accurate laboratory analyzes have shown that the characteristics of resistance and durability put it at the higher levels of the sector.
It is a material with shades ranging from beige, ivory and pink colors (depending on the variety), with frequent thin and sinuous veins, which characterize the surface. The extracted varieties are defined as:
1. micrites and intrabiomicrites; calcarenites: biancone, bronzetto, vermiglio.
2. laminar intrabiomicrites: silvabella, serpeggiante, fascionato, filettato (including red thread), ondagata.
3. calcirudites: Pearl (Perlatino).
Furthermore, among the most significant stones from the commercial point of view, we also have the Adriatic Apricena fiorito.
