Britannicus Stone’s Stanhope Black limestone is found in throughout the geographical beds of Frosterly stone in Weardale Valley, in County Durham. It is a simple black stone that is unlike any other British stone that we offer. While it somewhat lacks the character of that other of Britannicus Stones such as Swaledale fossil and Frosterly Marble, the simplicity of the Stanhope Black stone makes it a wonderful foil for these more marked marbles. The Stanhope black Limestone is well suited for sculpting and over time has produced a number of beautiful pieces. Typical Stanhope Black limestone slab sizes are 1.5x 1.2m however this varies. Samples given out cannot be guaranteed to match existing Stanhope Black limestone stock.
