There is perhaps no form of flooring more simply elegant than natural stone. With a variety of shades and finishes to choose from, Travertine flooring can be easily matched to any interior or exterior. It is no surprise that it is still as commonly used today as it once was in ancient times, with the natural idiosyncrasies of the stone making each and every project unique.
The three types of Travertine flooring installation
-
Direct lay: This first method involves simply laying Travertine directly onto the slab using highly specialised adhesives.
-
Wet lay: During a wet lay, the installer will make a mixture of sand and cement and then apply adhesive to the concrete slab and the back of the Travertine. The stone is then tapped into the wet sand cement mixture to the correct height.
-
Screeding: With screeding, a layer of sand and cement mixture is screeded over the concrete slab and then allowed to dry. Once dried, adhesive is applied to fix the travertine to the screed.
