Maintenance Informations
1. Flamed Finish: This finish is achieved by exposing the basalt surface to high temperatures and then rapidly cooling it with water. It creates a textured, rough surface that offers excellent slip resistance, even when wet. Flamed Basalt is highly durable and suitable for heavy foot traffic areas.
2. Bush Hammered Finish: In this finish, the basalt surface is mechanically treated with a bush hammer, which creates a rough and textured appearance. Bush hammered Basalt provides good slip resistance and is ideal for walking paths. It also offers a unique aesthetic with its natural, weathered look.
3. Natural Split Finish: This finish involves splitting the basalt along its natural grain or cleavage lines, resulting in a rough and uneven surface. Natural split basalt provides a rustic and organic appearance, while also offering some degree of slip resistance.
4. Sawn Finish: Sawn basalt has a smooth, polished appearance achieved by cutting the Basalt using saw blades. While this finish may not offer the same level of slip resistance as the previous options, it can still be suitable for walking paths in areas with low moisture or minimal slope. Consider adding texturing or a non-slip treatment to enhance slip resistance if using a sawn finish. When selecting a Basalt for walking paths, it's important to consider factors such as the slope of the path, climate conditions, and the level of foot traffic. Additionally, it's recommended to consult with a professional stone supplier or installer who can provide specific recommendations based on your requirements and the characteristics of the basalt available in your area.
