Products/Project Information
Lanterns of the Yukimi-gata (snow viewing) type are among the most popular of garden lanterns. Little is known of their history but is thought they were introduced during the Edo period (1615-1867). They are identified by the hexagonal, round or octagonal roof (kasa) which, in winter, will hold snow.
It is this reason they are referred to as snow viewing lanterns. These lanterns are suited to most areas of the landscape but are often placed by the water, directly on the ground or on a flat stone. Consider placing a single candle in the lamp housing to illuminate the garden at night.

How to clean outdoor granite garden lanterns?
To clean outdoor granite garden lanterns, you can follow these steps:
1. Remove any debris or dirt from the surface of the lantern using a soft-bristled brush or a dry cloth.
2. Prepare a solution of warm water and a mild dish soap or a specialized granite cleaner. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners that can damage the granite.
3. Dip a soft cloth or sponge into the cleaning solution and gently scrub the surface of the granite garden lantern, working in circular motions. Pay special attention to any stained or dirty areas.
4. Rinse the granite garden lantern thoroughly with clean water using a garden hose or a bucket of water. Be sure to remove all traces of soap or cleaner.
5. Dry the granite surface with a clean, soft towel or allow it to air dry completely.
6. If there are any stubborn stains or discolorations on the granite, you can try using a specialized granite stain remover or poultice. Follow the manufacturer's instructions carefully and test on a small, inconspicuous area first.
7. To protect the granite from future stains and damage, you can apply a granite sealer according to the manufacturer's instructions. This can help to prevent water and other substances from penetrating the surface of the granite and causing damage.
By following these steps, you can keep your outdoor granite garden lanterns looking clean and beautiful for years to come. It's also a good idea to regularly inspect the lanterns for any signs of damage or wear and tear, and to address any issues as soon as possible to prevent further damage.
